ARC St. Johns Community Campus art instructional staff will share information about the Art Program in ARC. Speaking at the November Program meeting will be Jessica Regan and Molly Ferraro.

Jessica Regan is a Para Professional with ARC leading the Creative Arts Department. She has been with ARC over four years with experience as a trained artist for many years working in art shows, art walks and juried shows with a passion for helping other individuals through self-expression and art therapy.  ARC Creative Arts Department is an inclusive arts program for individuals with intellectual developmental disabilities, physically and behaviorally challenged young adults in the planning and implementation of art projects, lessons, shows and enterprise. The program employs a hands on approach through technique and different mediums, while incorporating art history with for students. The program challenges their talents, abilities, interests, feelings communication and self-expression through art, art therapy and relatable artists, as well as open the doors to the various art careers available within the industry.

Molly Ferraro, also a Para Professional, with ARC for over eight years has an additional seven years’ experience with ESE populations. Since the Arts Program started two years ago students have grown in the use Art for self-expression, imagination, and therapeutic purposes. The department is an inclusive arts program for individuals with intellectual/physical disabilities as well as behaviorally challenged. The goal is to teach individuals the “World of Art” and the career fields it offers in an effort to open more opportunities for their future.

Donna Lueders oversees the St Johns County Education Foundation d/b/a Investing in Kids (INK). Donna’s family is from St. Augustine and while she spent time away from “home,” she’s been back since 1986. Prior to her employment with the Foundation, Donna worked in the criminal justice system. She’s married to Loran Lueders, Retired Chief of Police in St. Augustine. Her daughter, a graduate of St. Johns County Schools and Flagler College, is a teacher in New York City. Donna will be updating the members on recent fundraising events and the programs INK supports in the community.

Economic Development Director to brief StAR members on county growth

Melissa Glasgow, Director of Economic Development for St. Johns County will be the July Program Speaker for the StAR Council on July 18th at 6 p.m. Members and guests are welcomed to attend at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Historic St. Augustine, 116 San Marco Ave., St. Augustine.  Glasgow will update the group on current and emerging business development in the county.

Melissa S. Glasgow serves as the Director of Economic Development for St. Johns County, FL. She is the first person to hold this position and began her work with the County in 2011. As the lead for the County’s primary designated economic development organization, Glasgow coordinates overall economic development efforts in St. Johns County and works closely with the Chambers of Commerce, Industrial Development Authority, Enterprise Florida and other partners to attract new businesses to St. Johns County, as well as support existing businesses.

She is a member of the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), CORENet Global, NAIOP, CREWJAX and Florida Economic Development Council (FEDC), among other organizations. She also serves on the University of North Florida’s Small Business Development Center Advisory Council, and is a graduate of Leadership St. Johns.

Local Entrepreneur, Jay Owen, to talk with StAR Council about “Hitting the Digital Marketing Target”

Jay Owen, owner of Design Extensions, will be the guest speaker for the StAR Council program meeting for the June program. He will speak about “Hitting the Digital Marketing Target” on June 20th.

Jay founded Design Extensions, a digital marketing agency, at the age of 17. He’s grown the business for almost 20 years and loves helping others grow their business through digital marketing. When he’s not working on the company, he’s usually spending time with his wife of 14 years and their five children. Jay is a long time resident of St. Johns County.
